The adaptation of the poultry industry to accommodate the needs of large scale production has resulted in the division of the industry into specialized units of meat and egg production. Egg production constitutes the major phase, from the aspect of both the percent of the total investment in the industry which is devoted to it and the number of flocks that is kept for egg production.
