This master’s thesis was written at Götenehus AB, a house construction company based in Götene. Götenehus was founded in 1931 and has a long history of house construction with so-called prefabricated elements and have an assortment of residential houses, villas and holiday cottages in both modern as well as classic style (Götenehus 2016).The thesis was performed in Götenehus newest plant, H-hall, there the company produces modules for modular buildings with four production lines. The thesis only concerned three of these lines: the exterior wall line, the joist line and the interior wall line which consist of six, four and two stations. The exterior and interior wall lines produces exterior and interior respectively walls and the joist line produces the roof and floor of the modules. The modules are then assembled and completed in the fourth line, which is called the module flow, which isn't included in this thesis.One of the problems at the company is that there isn`t any system for how the material handling should be managed. In other words, is there are no regulations on what, where and how much material should be placed at the stations, nor when and how much material should be fetched. The company suspects that there could be wastes in the material handling, and this is of interest in terms of minimizing excessive costs as It doesn`t add value.The report also contains a substantial theoretical frame of reference of that the project group considered most relevant and thusly could the project group go through with and analyse the chosen methods. From the results there were some conclusions regarding potential improvements.From the theoretical frame of reference, literature study and the collected data there were a couple of improvement proposals made on how the material handling should be managed in the H-hall. The proposals consists of using the 5S-method to remove all the unnecessary material at the stations, new placements of material and the acquisition of new material shelves to store consumables.When the improvement proposals were finished the different aspects of the work were discussed based on how well it had been performed and what could had been done differently. The improvement proposals were also discussed and evaluated on how well they satisfied the goals of the thesis and finally some suggestions for the future were made. / Examensarbetet utfördes på Götenehus AB, som är ett bostadsbyggande företag vilket är baserat i Götene. Götenehus grundades år 1931 och har idag lång historia av att bygga hus med planelement och har ett sortiment bestående av bostadshus, villor och fritidshus i både modern och klassisk stil (Götenehus 2016).Projektet utfördes i Götenehus nyaste anläggning, H-hallen, där företaget producerar volymelement till modulhus med fyra produktionslinjer. Examensarbetet berörde endast tre av dessa linjer: ytterväggslinjen, bjälklagslinjen och innerväggslinjen vilka består av sex, fyra och två stationer. Ytter- och innerväggslinjen tillverkade ytter- respektive innerväggar och bjälklagslinjen tillverkar modulernas tak och golv. Modulen monteras sedan ihop och färdigställs i den fjärde linjen, som kallas för modulflödet, som inte ingår i detta arbetet.Ett av problemen på företaget är att det finns inget system för hur materialhanteringen ska skötas. Det finns med andra ord inga bestämmelser om vad, var och hur mycket material som ska placeras vid stationerna samt när och hur mycket material som ska hämtas. Företaget misstänker att det kan finnas slöseri i materialhantering och det är inget de vill ha eftersom det inte tillför något värde.Rapporten innehåller även en bred teoretisk referensram för det som anses vara mest relevant för projektgruppen och på detta sätt kunde projektgruppen genomföra och analysera de metoder som har valts. Utifrån resultaten finns det även potentiella förbättringsförslag för att företaget ska bli så effektivt som möjligt.Utifrån den teoretiska referensramen, litteraturstudien och insamlad data framställdes ett antal förbättringsförslag för hur materialhanteringen skulle hanteras i H-hallen. Förslagen består av att använda 5S-metoden för att ta bort allt onödigt material vid stationerna, nya placeringar av materialen samt införskaffandet av nya materialhyllor för förvaring av förbrukningsmaterial har föreslagits.När förbättringsförslagen färdigställts diskuterades arbetets olika moment utifrån hur väl det hade utförts samt vad som kunnat utförts annorlunda. Förbättringsförslagen diskuterades även och utvärderades i hur väl de uppfyllde examensarbetets mål och slutligen gavs förslag till framtida arbeten.
