According to the Public Health Agency of Sweden, children today are feeling increasingly worse, which also applies to further down the ages. School is an important platform for working towards better health for children. School is a place where teachers can contribute knowledge in the field. This study aims to contribute with knowledge about teachers' health education in biology in middle school. The purpose of this study is to examine science teachers' teaching in the field of health with a focus on methods and challenges. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 15 different science teachers in middle school around Sweden. The results show different methods that teachers use in teaching about health. Methods that include following the learning material, own material, personal experiences and collegial work. It also appears that teachers feel that there are different challenges to consider regarding health education. The challenges described in the work are the lack of knowledge among teachers and a lack of concrete teaching material. The fact that physical health has more space in teaching compared to mental health is also a challenge that all respondents emphasize. It is recommended that science teachers in middle school are given opportunities to reflect and strengthen their knowledge in health education. The school authorities need to focus on continuing education and review the materials that the school has available in order to get high-quality health education that includes all parts equally.
