Understanding real estate development for Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) Policy in South Africa: A case study of the eThekwini Metropolitan area and the KwaDukuza municipal area.

This study explores the policy implications of Real estate Investment Trusts on urban restructuring and attempts to uncover if monitoring and evaluating mechanisms are needed. This issue is relevant to South Africa for competing globally and domestically for real estate investment. Furthermore it is relevant to South Africa given the potential impact of unregulated property development and the implications for the poor.
