A dissertation submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in the Centre for Telecommunication Access and Services, School of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, 2016 / Reed-Solomon codes are very popular codes used in the field of forward error correction due to their correcting capabilities.
