Previous issue date: 2017-06-02 / FACEPE / A pobreza rural é um fenômeno altamente complexo, em que diversos estudiosos divergem na forma de investiga-la. No Brasil a pobreza se mostra mais severa no meio rural algo comprovado por estudiosos tanto pela forma unidimensional, quanto multidimensional. Onde a região Nordeste é a que mais sofre com tal disparidade de renda, e de oportunidades se comparada com as demais regiões brasileiras. Para investigar tal problema, a dissertação tem por objetivo estimar a pobreza rural Nordestina para o ano de 2010 através de uma perspectiva unidimensional e multidimensional, para o Nordeste brasileiro. Fazendo assim, comparação entre as metodologias, Análise de Componentes Principais (ACP), e o índice de Foster, Greer e Thorbecke (FGT) e teoria dos Conjuntos Fuzzy, com intuito de averiguar possíveis Vantagens e desvantagens de cada metodologia e divergências e concordâncias metodológicas. Obteve-se como resultado pelo método ACP que algumas variáveis não tinham poder explicativo que nos conjuntos Fuzzy tinham. E se encontrou divergências no índice FGT quando comparado com um Índice unidimensional Fuzzy de pobreza, e o índice de Gini. E conclui-se que os piores resultados para o meio rural Nordestino foi encontrado no Estado do Maranhão, e que Pernambuco apresentou na maioria dos resultados valores medianos se comparados a todos estados do Nordeste Brasileiro. / Rural poverty is a highly complex phenomenon, in which several scholars differ in the way they investigate it. In Brazil, poverty is proving more severe in rural areas, as evidenced by scholars in both one-dimensional and multidimensional forms. Where the Northeast region suffers most from this disparity of income, and from opportunities compared to other regions of Brazil. To investigate this problem, the dissertation aims to estimate rural Northeastern poverty for the year 2010 through a one-dimensional and multidimensional perspective, for the Brazilian Northeast. Thus, a comparison between the methodologies, Principal Components Analysis (PCA), and the Foster, Greer and Thorbecke (FGT) index and Fuzzy Set theory were used, in order to ascertain the possible advantages and disadvantages of each methodology and methodological differences and agreement. It was obtained by the ACP method that some variables had no explanatory power than in the Fuzzy sets. And we found differences in the FGT index when compared to a one-dimensional Fuzzy index of poverty, and the Gini index. It is concluded that the worst results for the rural Northeast region were found in the State of Maranhão, and that Pernambuco presented in the majority of the results median values when compared to all states of the Northeast of Brazil.
