Previous issue date: 2008 / In the contemporary context of deep social exclusion and unemployment, derived from globalization and neo-liberalism, alternatives emerge as reaction to injustices and social inequalities. The experiences of generation of employment and income, when contradicting the actual establishment, appear as resistance to the hegemonic system and when inserted in proposals of Solidary Economy must be oriented by associative and cooperative principles. They present a clear challenge. These experiences are the focus of this study that searches to know the difficulties and understand the factors that can contribute to their materialization, comprising initiatives supported by the non-governmental sphere, as well as those supported by both governmental and non-governmental together. At the same time the study tries to identify the contributions that Social Psychology can offer when dealing with this reality permeated by an ambivalence of different orders. Data were collected through semistructured interviews with eight women belonging to four experiences of generation of employment and income, and five advisors working in these experiences. Information was analyzed through content analysis, resulting in four thematic groups: Back Stations of Exclusion, Stones in the Way, Successful but Ambivalent Practices and Multiple Hands. Information from advisors made up the groups: Difficulties of the Environment, Challenges to Thought and Action, and Doing and Learning. These findings were interpreted under the light of the theory discussed earlier in the study. / No contexto contemporâneo de intensa exclusão social e desemprego, decorrentes da globalização e neoliberalismo, emergem alternativas em reação às injustiças e desigualdades sociais. As experiências de geração de trabalho quando se configuram em resistências ao sistema hegemônico e, quando inseridas em uma proposta de Economia Solidária, devem ser regidas por princípios associativistas e cooperativos, sendo este um desafio visível. Tais experiências foram o foco deste estudo que buscou conhecer as dificuldades e compreender fatores que possam contribuir para o êxito das mesmas, considerando iniciativas apoiadas pela esfera não-governamental bem como aquelas assessoradas pela interlocução governamental e não-governamental. Igualmente procurou-se identificar as contribuições que a Psicologia Social pode oferecer quando intervindo junto a esta realidade, permeada por inúmeras ambivalências de variadas ordens. As informações foram colhidas através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas com oito mulheres de quatro experiências de geração de trabalho e renda, bem como com cinco técnicos inseridos na assessoria destas experiências. Após a Análise de Conteúdo do material transcrito agrupou-se o mesmo em temáticas. As experiências foram caracterizadas pelas seguintes temáticas: Bastidores da Exclusão, Pedras do Caminhar, Práticas Exitosas, mas Ambivalentes e Mãos Múltiplas. Já as informações dos técnicos foram organizadas nas temáticas Percalços do Entorno, Pensar e Agir Desafiados e Fazendo e Aprendendo. Tais achados foram interpretados à luz da teoria discutida anteriormente na dissertação.
