La baja de la natalidad a nivel mundial, el aumento de madres por sobre los 35
años y la decisión de un sector de la población femenina de no ser madres son
eventos que se producen sobre todo en los grupos de mujeres con mayor nivel
educativo. Es por ello que esta investigación sobre la postergación de la
maternidad en mujeres residentes en Lima, se basó en una población
profesional. Para entender las razones de estas mujeres se abordó el problema
desde tres ejes: los proyectos de vida de las mujeres profesionales, su
concepción sobre las relaciones de pareja, y sus ideas sobre la maternidad.
Con el proyecto de vida se busca conocer qué actividades ocupan el tiempo de
las profesionales y qué perspectivas tienen a futuro. Las concepciones sobre
relaciones de pareja sirven para entender el lugar que se les otorga a los
hombres en la satisfacción afectiva, las tareas domésticas y su pertinencia en
la reproducción y crianza de hijos. La maternidad, parte central de la
investigación, muestra cuáles son las ideas que sobre la maternidad tienen las
profesionales, cómo se ubican ante esas ideas, cómo reaccionan o no ante la
presión social por ser madres y las propuestas de vida que ellas ofrecen.
Además de la revisión bibliográfica, la investigación se sustenta en entrevistas
a veintiséis mujeres profesionales de distintas áreas, en el rango de edad de 28
a 38 años, que no eran madres al momento de la entrevista. Sus respuestas
son la base para entender el por qué de la postergación de la maternidad. / The decline of worldwide birthrate, the increasing of mothers over 35 years old,
and the decision of not being mothers from a female population sector are
events that occur especially in groups of women with higher education. That is
why this research about the motherhood postponement in women living in Lima
was based on professional population. To understand these women reasons,
the problem took three axes. Professional women life project, their concepts on
relationships, and their ideas about motherhood. Professional women life
project seeks to know what activities spend their time and what are their future
prospects. The second axe show what is the position of men in women
emotional satisfaction, housework and their relevance in reproduction and
parenting. Motherhood, the heart of this research, shows about the professional
women ideas of motherhood, what position they have about these ideas, how
they respond or not to social pressure to be mother, and their life proposals. In
addition to the literature review, this research is supported on twentysix women
interviews, all them from different professional areas, ranging between 28 to 38
years old who were not mothers at the time of the interview. Their responses
are the basis for understanding the reason for the motherhood postponement.
