Detta är en studie där vi undersökt vilken syn yrkesverksamma inom socialt arbete har på ”den prostituerade”. Syftet har även varit att analysera vilken påverkan deras konstruktion av ”den prostituerade” har på det sociala arbetet. För att undersöka detta har vi gjort en kvalitativ intervjustudie där vi intervjuat sju personer från fem olika verksamheter, bl.a. socialtjänsten. Därefter har vi analyserat vår datainsamling inspirerat av systematisk textkondensering, vilket ledde till ett resultat som vi sedan analyserat med hjälp av socialkonstruktionism samt begreppen kategorisering, stereotypisering och skam. Vårt resultat visar att det finns en begränsad kunskap hos socialarbetare om ämnet. Konstruktionen av ”den prostituerade” påverkas av att ämnet är skambelagt i samhället vilket får konsekvenser för det sociala arbetet då prostitution anses för känsligt och skamfyllt för att lyftas upp i mötet med klienter. Det sociala arbetet inom området inriktas främst mot tjejer vilket visar på att kvinnan konstrueras som den mest synliga och utsatta aktören inom prostitution. / In this study we have examined the views and thoughts about “the prostitute” among social workers. The aim has also been to analyze the impact of their social construction of “the prostitute” on social work. To examine this, we have made a qualitative interview study in which we have interviewed seven people from five different organizations, for example social services. Our analysis of the data is inspired by systematic text condensation, leading to a result which we then analyzed with the help of social constructionism and the concepts of categorization, stereotyping and shame. Our results show that the social workers have limited knowledge about this topic. The construction of “the prostitute” is affected by the shame in society that is connected to the topic. This leads to consequences in the social work. The social workers don’t speak or ask their clients about prostitution in the meetings, as the topic is considered to be too sensitive and shameful. The social work in this field is mainly focused on girls which indicates that women are constructed as the most exposed participants in prostitution.
