The study explored the perspectives and practices of social sustainability among practitioners within social work in Sweden. A qualitative research approach was utilized. Eight practitioners in social work and related fields participated in the study. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The empirical data was analyzed using thematic analysis, empowerment theory and the conceptual social sustainability framework (CSSF). The results were captured into three themes: variance in perception and practice of social sustainability, navigating barriers and benefits towards social sustainability and adaptive evaluation measures. The author concluded that social sustainability was understood and implemented through diverse approaches within social work in Sweden, including regeneration projects, casework, and grassroots interventions. Furthermore, enhancing collaboration between macro and micro-level practitioners and further orientation about the concept can be a viable means to augment implementation efforts and attain a unified understanding of social sustainability in the Swedish social work context.
