The problem and focus of this work will be on multilingualism, where it is clarified how multilingualism affects the students. The aim is to investigate how multilingualism can be an obstacle and how it can be used as an asset. In addition to investigating which different methods can be used to make multilingualism an asset. The method used was a systematic knowledge review where I examined and read several research articles. Then there was a selection where I chose 10 articles due to various reasons. Such as that all articles must be written after 2003 for them to be relevant to the work. The sample was used to prove the purpose and the various issues that existed. In the facts part, it was answered whether multilingualism is an asset or a barrier. It was also answered how it is a barrier and how it is an asset. In addition, it is made clear which methods can be used to ensure that the multilingual students get the help they need. To ensure that multilingualism is used as an asset and not a barrier in schools.
