El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo estudiar la relación entre el soporte social percibido e
ideación suicida en estudiantes universitarios de Lima Metropolitana. La muestra estuvo
conformada por 276 estudiantes, 129 hombres (46.7%) y 147 mujeres (53.3%), entre los 18 y
28 años (M=20.34, DE=1.80). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron la Escala Multidimensional
de Apoyo Social Percibido (MSPSS) y el Inventario de Ideación Suicida Positiva y Negativa
– PANSI. Se encontró una relación significativa y moderada entre el soporte social y la
ideación suicida. Asimismo, el soporte familiar tuvo una mayor fuerza en comparación con
las otras fuentes de soporte. En cuanto a las variables sociodemográficas, se encontró que hubo
diferencias por sexo, edad, religión, pareja, enfermedad física, salud mental y vivir solo. / The present study aimed to study the relationship between perceived social support and
suicidal ideation in university students of Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 276
students, 129 men (46.7%) and 147 women (53.3%), between 18 and 28 years (M = 20.34, SD
= 1.80). The instruments used were the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale
(MSPSS) and the Inventory of Positive and Negative Suicidal Ideation - PANSI. A significant
and moderate relationship was found between social support and suicidal ideation. Also,
family support was stronger compared to other sources of support. Regarding the
sociodemographic variables, it was found that there were differences by sex, age, religion,
couple, physical illness, mental health and living alone.
