This thesis has reviewed and evaluated the recent Studio Theatre production of Jean-Paul Sartre's The Victors. In this thesis, the director has presented comment on the following: The author in a biographical sketch; Sartrian existentialism and its four levels of existence; the play itself from the standpoint of plot, theme and character; the script and the related problems of editing for topical references and dramaturgy; the problems of experimentation in rehearsal; the problems of music selection; and the problems of design including set, lights, costume, properties and make-up. Included in the thesis are drawings of the original set, the set finally used, the light plot and instrument set-up. Also contained within are action photographs from the production.
