The following report comprises my bachelor´s thesis in Industrial design, 30 hp. It is executed in collaboration with Bonum senior housing, who has been the client and assignment- maker of this project. The goal was to design a bench for their entrances, which could represent not only the needs of the target group but also Bonum as a trademark. The work is done with great care for both human kind and the environment, with sustainability as beacon. The design process has been followed.Initially, you will find the definition of a bench for entrances, the framework including inclusive as well as sustainable design, a function- and market analysis followed by the inspiration part of the project. Getting to know the target group and their specific needs has been essential for this work. Investigations about what senior house living and senior products are and what the target group thinks and feels, has been done. As a result, two “personas” has been developed. With the help of a purposely chosen group of people, surveys and ergonomic studies has been executed, as well as prototype-testing.The fact-finding has formed the stable and unavoidable foundation of this project, which later on gets more creative and idea based. The generated ideas are shown as sketches, sketch- models and 3D modeling. To be sure of what material to chose, there have been audits and comparisons done about what wood, metal and plastics can add. Cork has also been investigated as an alternative to the seat. The execution part mostly consists of the physical making of the prototype, but also contains the construction drawings and rendered pictures of the module solution.Against a hypothetic background where I would have no client, there is a chapter considering marketing possibilities for this product. The result is a prototype, scale 1:1 which definitely is usable for its purpose. As for now, this specific piece is going to be shown at an internal exhibition for Bonum. Before the bench possibly gets to the point where it´s being produced, there are going to be some minor changes. As there should be in this kind of work. / Följande rapport innefattar mitt examensarbete till en kandidat i industriell design, 30 hp. Det är utfört i samarbete med Bonum seniorboenden, som varit uppdragsgivare i projektet. Målet var att designa en bänk som skulle kunna stå i Bonums entréer och representera såväl målgruppens behov som Bonums varumärke. Arbetet är gjort med stor omsorg för både människa och miljö, med hållbarhet som ledstjärna. Projektet är genomfört i enlighet med designprocessen. Inledningsvis finner man definitionen av en entrébänk, referensramar kring inkluderande och hållbar design, en funktionsanalys och marknadsanalys följt av en inspirationsdel. Stor vikt har lagts vid att lära känna målgruppen och dess specifika behov. Undersökningarna gällande vad seniorboenden är, vilka produkter seniorer är hänvisade till i dagens läge samt vad målgruppen tycker och tänker, har gjorts. Till följd av detta har två ”personas” utvecklats. Enkätförfrågningar och ergonomiska studier har utförts, likväl prototypprovning, med hjälp av en specifikt utvald brukargrupp. Faktasamlingen har utgjort den stabila och oundvikliga grunden för arbetet som sedan mynnar ut i mer kreativitet, idégenerering och skapande i form av skisser, skissmodeller samt 3D modellering. För att säkerhetsställa valet av material till entrébänken har det gjorts noggranna granskningar om vad trä, metall och plast, som olika material, erbjuder i förhållande till varandra. Även kork har undersökts som alternativ till bänkskivan. Genomförandedelen består främst av det fysiska framtagandet av prototypen samt konstruktionsritningar, flamskyddstest och färdigrenderade bilder på den modula lösningen . Mot hypotetisk bakgrund att det inte redan fanns en given uppdragsgivare, har ett extra perspektiv angående marknadsföringsmöjligheterna för produkten utforskats. Resultatet är en prototyp i skala 1:1, som definitivt går att använda, men som främst kommer att tjäna som utställningsobjekt internt på Bonum. Innan bänken möjligtvis går i produktion kommer ytterligare några små förändringar att göras, som sig bör i ett sådant här arbete.
