Sundbyholm, an area 10 km northeast of Eskilstuna city, has in recent years seen a large increase in both population and buildings. The area has been pointed out by Eskilstuna municipality as an important node in the municipality, which in the coming years will have a new detailed plan for increased housing construction. Sundbyholm is a place with good conditions for nature, production, and culture. The area largely consists of a nature reserve, agriculture, and housing. At present, the area lacks senior housing, which means that those who need help, or just company, are forced to move to Eskilstuna or other areas. In the project proposal, Sundbyholm gets senior housing, connected to a greenhouse with a restaurant. The site is located next to Sundbyholm's nature reserve and residential area within walking distance to Sundbyholm's castle, guest harbor, and bathing area as well as Sundbyholm's trotting track. The area is connected to the city of Eskilstuna through public transport, car traffic, and a newly laid cycle path. The cultivation becomes partly a public meeting place, partly employment for the residents, and makes it possible to stay and live close to plants and greenery, regardless of the season. / Sundbyholm, ett område 10 km nordöst om Eskilstuna stad, har under senare år sett en stor ökning i både befolkning och bebyggelse. Området har pekats ut av Eskilstuna kommun som en viktig nod i kommunen som under kommande år kommer få en ny detaljplan för ökat bostadsbyggande. Sundbyholm är en plats med goda förutsättningar för såväl natur, produktion och kultur. Området består till stor del av ett naturskyddsområde, jordbruk och bostäder. I nuläget saknar området seniorboenden vilket gör att de som är i behov av hjälp, eller bara sällskap, tvingas flytta till Eskilstuna eller andra områden. I projektförslaget får Sundbyholm ett seniorboende, kopplat till ett växthus med en restaurang. Tomten är belägen invid Sundbyholms naturreservat och bostadsområde med gångavstånd till Sundbyholms slott, gästhamn och badplats samt Sundbyholms travbana. Området kopplas samman med Eskilstuna stad genom kollektivtrafik, biltrafik och ett nylagt cykelstråk. Odlingen blir dels en offentlig mötesplats, dels en sysselsättning för de boende, samt möjliggör att vistas och leva nära växter och grönska, oberoende årstid.
