Bakgrund: Knäsmärta är en vanlig orsak till att patienter söker vård hos en fysioterapeut. Smärta i knät påverkar en individ biologiskt, psykologiskt och socialt. På grund av detta är den biopsykosociala modellen en viktig utgångspunkt inom fysioterapi. Studier på området har dock visat att fysioterapeuter upplever svårigheter med att identifiera psykosociala faktorer. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva om och hur informanterna upplevde att den biopsykosociala modellen togs i beaktande vid den fysioterapeutiska behandlingen av knäsmärta. Metod: En kvalitativ studie med semistrukturerade intervjuer valdes. Utifrån ett subjektivt och selektivt urval rekryterades fem informanter som under det senaste året hade haft knäsmärta och behandlats av fysioterapeut. Analysen av intervjumaterialet gjordes utifrån en manifest och latent innehållsanalys med latent analys kopplad till den biopsykosociala modellen. Resultat: Informanternas upplevelser speglade att användandet av den biopsykosociala modellen vid behandling av knäsmärta inte skedde konsekvent. Två informanter upplevde att deras fysioterapeut tog hänsyn till hela modellen: biologiskt, psykologiskt och socialt, medan två informanter upplevde att fokus endast låg på den biologiska delen. En informant behandlades av en fysioterapeut som tog hänsyn till den biologiska och psykologiska delen. Att hitta en fysioterapeut som använde den biopsykosociala modellen och därmed såg helheten ansågs som viktigt för en god behandling av knäsmärta och för känslan av att vara nöjd. Konklusion: För ett bra behandlingsresultat vid knäsmärta är det viktigt att fysioterapeuten individanpassar och tar hänsyn till den biopsykosociala modellens tre delar (biologiskt, psykologiskt och socialt). / Background: Knee pain is a common reason for patients to seek healthcare at a physiotherapist. Knee pain affects people in different ways which can refer to biological, psychological and social aspects of a person's life. Due to this the biopsychosocial model is considered an important foundation in physiotherapy. Earlier studies have shown that physiotherapists experience difficulties identifying psychosocial factors in patients. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe if and how informants experience the biopsychosocial model to be considered within the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of knee pain. Method: A qualitative study with semi-structured interview was made. Based on a subjective and selective sample five informants were recruited. The inclusion criteria was that informants needed to have experienced knee pain during the last year and had got rehabilitation for this at a physiotherapist. Data were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis with a manifest and latent content analysis. The biopsychosocial model was considered the base of the latent analysis. Results: Informants' experiences reflect that the use of the biopsychosocial model in rehabilitation of knee pain wasn’t used consistently. Two informants experienced that their physiotherapist used the whole model: biological, psychological and social. While two informants experienced only the biological part as observed. The last one experienced that two aspects were used: the biological and psychological. The result states that finding a physiotherapist who used the biophysical model and through this saw entirety was considered very important in feeling satisfied and overall content with the rehabilitation of knee pain. Conclusion: For a good treatment outcome it is important that the physiotherapist individualize the rehabilitation and use the biopsychosocial model when treating patients with knee pain.
