A study of the adequacy of library materials in the area of personal and social development available for teaching social studies in Florida elementary schools

"The purpose of this study is to compile a graded, annotated list of library materials in the area of personal and social development (1) which meet established criteria for selection of children's materials and (2) which can be recommended to teachers of elementary social studies in the State of Florida. In connection with the development of this list, an analysis has been made of materials available for evaluation. This analysis was made to determine the adequacy of library materials related to each continuing strand in Area I of the social studies program and to discover where production of additional materials is badly needed.
