Previous issue date: 2009-02-27 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico / This work considers the comprehension of the intrafamiliar violence emphasizing violent mothers relationships with their children. The purpose is to understand the development of these relationships which turn into aggressive behavior of the mothers regarding family education. The research was carried out focusing on two aspects: analysis of the theoretical references and empirical research. The theoretical research was done through a bibliographic survey of subjects related to this study such as: the history of the family, motherhood and children, the intrafamiliar violence practiced by mothers against their children; as well as how those violent relationships emerge from family environment. We point out the Foucault s concept of discipline (FOUCAULT, 1975) and Caldeira s concept of circumscribed body (CALDEIRA, 2000). It was selected a sample of ten women to investigate the relationship between mother and son through a detailed interviews. Five mothers from this sample were denounced to the Tutelary Council and they were set in a so called Denounced Group. Similarly, the other five mothers, who live in the same social and cultural context of the selected families assisted by the Tutelary Council, were set in the Non-Denounced Group. Therefore, we work with representations of the own interviewers about the meaning of the pedagogic socializing discipline in their lives. Our priority was the study of case carried out with the denounced families for physical violence and with the other group in order to develop a comparative analysis of both groups. Such methodological choice is explained by the interest for understanding the violence between mothers and children. It is common to all mothers not to consider aggressive their behavior against their children. We observe that physical punishment is considered a way to discipline children and teenagers, hence that is perceived as necessary to repress, to control, and to adapt them. Thus, it is considered a necessary practice for education. However, the reason that made the community denounced against the mothers of the Denounced Group was due to those did not correspond to an ideal example of what was expected to be a mother (they took drugs, alcohol, and had several sexual partners), that is denounces were not for the physical violence itself. Therefore, those mothers were not denounced because they were not morally able to manage their children s education. The community tolerates the punishment against children, but not the amorality of the women, and they were denounced for disregarding their role as mothers / O presente trabalho se dedica ? compreens?o de viol?ncia intrafamiliar, com ?nfase nas rela??es violentas das m?es contra seus filhos. O objetivo ? entender como se apresentam tais rela??es que culminam em comportamentos agressivos utilizados pelas m?es na rela??o educativa familiar. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em duas dimens?es: an?lise do referencial te?rico e pesquisa emp?rica. A pesquisa te?rica foi feita a partir de um levantamento bibliogr?fico de temas relacionados ao estudo, tais como: a hist?ria da fam?lia, da maternidade e das crian?as, a viol?ncia intrafamiliar praticada pelas m?es contra seus pr?prios filhos, e como essas rela??es de viol?ncia surgem no contexto familiar. Ressaltamos o conceito de disciplina de Foucault (1975) e o de corpo circunscrito de Caldeira (2000). Para a pesquisa emp?rica foi selecionada uma amostra de 10 mulheres para investigar a rela??o entre m?e e filho, em entrevistas aprofundadas. Cinco m?es dessa amostra foram denunciadas por terceiros, ao Conselho Tutelar, que foi denominado de Grupo Denunciado. E tamb?m, com um grupo de cinco m?es, que vivem no mesmo contexto sociocultural das fam?lias atendidas pelo Conselho Tutelar, selecionadas para a pesquisa, denominadas de Grupo N?o Denunciado. Trabalhamos, portanto, com as representa??es das pr?prias entrevistadas sobre o significado da disciplina pedag?gica socializadora em sua vida. Priorizamos o estudo de caso realizado com as fam?lias que foram denunciadas por viol?ncia f?sica e o outro grupo para fazermos uma an?lise comparativa entre os dois grupos. Tal escolha metodol?gica justifica-se pelo interesse em compreender as rela??es de viol?ncia entre m?es e filhos. Um ponto em comum entre as m?es ? o n?o reconhecimento de suas pr?ticas de agress?o contra seus filhos. Enfatizando que as puni??es f?sicas em nosso universo pesquisado t?m a fun??o de disciplinar as crian?as e os adolescentes, e s?o consideradas a??es necess?rias para conter, controlar, e moldar. Dessa forma, s?o consideradas como uma pr?tica necess?ria para educar. Entretanto, o motivo que levou a comunidade a denunciar as m?es do Grupo Denunciado foi por estas n?o se encaixarem no modelo ideal do que se espera do ser m?e (elas faziam uso de drogas, ?lcool, mais de um parceiro) ou seja, as den?ncias n?o ocorreram pelo uso de viol?ncia f?sica em si. Portanto, essas m?es foram denunciadas porque se mostraram incapazes, moralmente, de gerir a educa??o de seus filhos. Portanto, a comunidade tolera as puni??es contra crian?as, mas n?o tolera a amoralidade das mulheres, denunciando-as por n?o cumprirem seu papel de m?e
