The purpose of this essay have been to investigate family homes’ experiences of being a family home. The focus of this work have been to look at the factors that underlie why people and families chose to become a family home. Another focus is to gain more knowledge about the main challenges that comes with accepting the mission. Besides the challenges, this work studies the opportunities that the effort brings as well. Family care affects these families in different ways, which is also something that is considered in this study. The result of the essay is based upon acquired knowledge in literature as well as qualitative studies. The qualitative studies are based on deep interviews of a total of eight people with family home experiences. The interviews were conducted in semi-structured terms and interpreted in an analytical manner. The empirical have been analysed using content analysis. The results of the work have shown that family homes mostly agree on the factors that are the basis for wanting to start a family home. The family homes consider it to be an exceptional way to help other people and that have enriched their lives. The main difference that was found was the setbacks of what the family parents experienced being the biggest challenge. The differences depended of the various client groups and the responsibility. / Syftet med detta arbete var att undersöka familjehemmens upplevelser av att vara familjehem. Fokus i arbetet var att se till de faktorer som ligger till grund för viljan att vara familjehem, få kännedom om utmaningar och möjligheter med familjehemsuppdraget, samt att ta reda på hur familjehemsuppdraget har påverkat familjehemsföräldrarna som personer. Metoden som använts för att svara på syfte och frågeställningar är semistrukturerade intervjuer med sammanlagt åtta personer med familjehemserfarenhet. Empirin har analyserats med hjälp av innehållsanalys. Resultatet visar att familjehemmen i stora drag är överens om vilka faktorer som ligger till grund för att vilja vara familjehem. Det som alla familjehem ansåg som huvudorsak till att vara familjehem var att det berikar livet att hjälpa andra människor. Det som skilde familjehemmen åt i svaren var vilka motgångar som de upplevde som svårast, oftast berodde det på valet av klientgrupp och syn på uppdraget och det ansvar som medföljer. / <p>2018-06-04</p>
