The following diploma thesis looks into the picturesque landscapes of Písek's region, but also into the rural settlements in the middle of South Bohemian. The main purpose -- the defining of regional specifics, based on terrain exploration in more than twenty villages in Písek's region. From the terrain exploration were defined five settlements which are most characteristic for this region. This group was subjected to the relevant landscape analysis, which helped to define the local unique characters. The formulated specifics are in many ways closely connected with the traditional architecture. Architecture of rustic structures becomes in many cases very valuable indication which together with the ground plan of residence refers to the historical origin and use of local landscape.
