Previous issue date: 2013-08-29 / Over the last decades, there has been a discussion about the Portuguese language teaching
in the linguistic field. In an attempt to contribute to this discussion, this study, which was
developed in a school context, has had the participation of high school students of a private
school from Bagé, a city in RS, Brazil. The activity investigated was these students‟ video
production process. The aim of this school action was to provide them a discussion about
language, enabling them to explore the topic freely and autonomously. Once we believe that the
classroom activities that involve language should privilege its effective use, the focus of this
research is the analysis of these videos as a learning and interaction resource during 1st year high
school students‟ Portuguese classes. This work attempts to contribute for the Portuguese language
area through the investigation carried out on videos as learning instruments of and about
language. From the perspective of the Activity Theory, based on Vygotsky (1930/2002), Leontiev
(1978/2003) and Engeström (1987), the students‟ productions were analyzed. The main
conclusion was that the results expected by the teacher do not always match the aims of the
activities because of the fact that the goal of the activity is not clear for the student. Thus, the
Activity Theory helps to see the activity as a whole, allowing the teacher to understand his/her
practice / Nas últimas décadas, tem-se presenciado, dentro do campo da Linguística Aplicada, a discussão
sobre o ensino de Língua Portuguesa. Na tentativa de contribuir para esta discussão, a presente
pesquisa, desenvolvida no campo escolar, contou com a participação de alunos do Ensino Médio
de uma escola particular da cidade de Bagé/RS/Brasil. A atividade de interesse investigativo foi
o processo de produção de vídeos por estes alunos. O objetivo de tal ação escolar era
proporcionar-lhes uma discussão sobre língua, possibilitando a liberdade e autonomia para
explorarem o tema. Por acreditar que as atividades de sala de aula envolvendo a língua devam
privilegiar o uso efetivo desta, o foco desta pesquisa centra-se na análise do uso desses vídeos
como recurso de aprendizagem e de interação dos alunos do 1º ano do Ensino Médio nas aulas de
Língua Portuguesa. Este trabalho tenta contribuir para a área do ensino de Língua Portuguesa
pela investigação que faz do vídeo como instrumento de aprendizagem de e sobre língua. A
partir da perspectiva da Teoria da Atividade com base em Vygotsky(1930/2002), Leontiev
(1978/2003) e Engeström (1987), procurou-se analisar as produções dos discentes. A principal
conclusão foi que os resultados esperados pelo professor nem sempre casam com os objetivos das
atividades pelo fato de para o aluno não ficar clara a meta da atividade. Enfim, a Teoria da
Atividade ajuda a olhar a atividade como um todo, permitindo ao professor entender a sua
prática
