Previous issue date: 2011-02-10 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / The research focuses on urban planning in the city of Teresina, Piauí State, between 1969 and 2006. The objective of this research is to verify how was the process of urban planning through the proposed master plans with a focus on the last plane. To form the theoretical assumptions that underpin this research seeks to briefly talk about the urban planning process in Brazil and in Teresina. For this research is divided into two periods: before the 1988 Federal Constitution, a period which includes the formulation of the first three master plans for the city of Teresina, and from 1988, when they were made the last two plans. Finally, point out the limits and the future prospects of urban planning to Teresina from the analysis of the final master plan, prepared in 2006 based on the principles set by the City Statute, Federal Law 10257/2001 / A pesquisa aborda o planejamento urbano do município de Teresina, capital do Estado do Piauí, entre os anos 1969 e 2006. O objetivo desta pesquisa é verificar de que forma se deu o processo do planejamento urbano através da análise do discurso dos planos diretores propostos com enfoque no último plano. Para formar os pressupostos teóricos que embasam esta pesquisa procura-se discorrer sinteticamente sobre o processo planejamento urbano no Brasil e em Teresina. Para tanto a pesquisa está dividida em dois momentos: antes da Constituição Federal de 1988, período que compreende a formulação dos três primeiros planos diretores para a cidade de Teresina; e a partir de 1988, quando foram elaborados os dois últimos planos. Por fim, apontam-se os limites e as perspectivas futuras de planejamento urbano para Teresina a partir da análise do último plano diretor, elaborado em 2006 com base nos princípios definidos pelo Estatuto das Cidades, lei federal 10.257/2001
