Previous issue date: 2009-04-16 / The socioespacial trajectory of the city of Goianira, state of Goiás/Brazil demonstrates the absorption power that the Brazilian metropolises exert on the neighboring cities. The present study of case aims to clarify how was the sprouting of the city of Goianira, in the 1920s, when it was only a village, and how it became an Goiânia's residential extension from the mid- 1970s on. In order to this, the first chapter provides the initial arrangement of the council, highlighting the constraints of their local and regional development, contextualizing it in the metropolitan dynamic. The second chapter presents a proposal of periodization of urban
sprawl, divided into three spatial-temporal patterns of appearance and occupancy of lots of land. The third chapter presents the current situation of rural areas and the result of the strong influence of the metropolis on the socio-intraurban structure of the city, especially on the collective use of equipment, on the jobs and services given to society. It follows that the economic agriculture activity was gradually replaced by urban work, which is almost completely linked to the metropolis, considering that the residents of the city daily move in search of work, properties, leisure and services in the metropolitan center . The urban network has expanded, until connecting with the others cities, as a side effect of restricting the opening of new lots in the capital, Goiânia. Thus, Goianira, today, is a city that, both in social as space point of view, it's shown itself as a result of the answers it has gave to the Goiânia's needs. Thus, the Metropolitan Area of Goiânia is shown as an united 'body city', where some functions are developed by peripherals municipalities, especially the housing function / A trajetória socioespacial do município de Goianira demonstra o poder de absorção que as metrópoles brasileiras exercem sobre os municípios vizinhos. O presente estudo de caso
tem como objetivo explicitar como se deu o surgimento do município de Goianira, na década de 1920, quando era apenas um povoado, e como o mesmo se tornou uma extensão
residencial de Goiânia, a partir de meados da década de 1970. Para isso busca-se, no primeiro capítulo, apresentar a formação inicial do município, destacando as condicionantes
locais e regionais de seu desenvolvimento, além de contextualizá-lo na dinâmica metropolitana. O segundo capítulo traz uma proposta de periodização da expansão urbana, dividida em três padrões espácio-temporais de surgimento e ocupação de loteamentos. O terceiro capítulo apresenta a situação atual da zona rural e o resultado da forte influência da metrópole sobre a estruturação socioespacial intraurbana da cidade, sobretudo quanto aos
equipamentos de uso coletivo, aos postos de trabalho e aos serviços prestados à sociedade. Conclui-se que a atividade econômica agropecuária foi paulatinamente substituída pelo
trabalho urbano, o qual está quase completamente ligado à metrópole, já que os moradores da cidade movimentam-se pendularmente em busca de trabalho, mercadorias, lazer e
serviços no polo metropolitano. A malha urbana expandiu-se, até conurbar-se, como efeito colateral da restrição à abertura de novos loteamentos em Goiânia. Assim, Goianira é hoje
um município que, tanto do ponto de vista social quanto espacial, se mostra como produto das respostas que deu às necessidades de Goiânia. Deste modo, a Região Metropolitana de Goiânia se apresenta como um corpo urbano coeso, em que algumas funções são desenvolvidas pelos municípios periféricos, sobretudo a função habitacional
