This graduation theses is concerned with the Roman gardens of the late antiquity and with their heritage in the Medieval gardens. Consequently there might be placed an emphasis on their conceptual and architectural layout. The attention is also paid to ancient literary sources and to mosaics as an iconographic source. Another purpose is to point out the components of Roman gardens, which are reflected in the Moor gardens in Spain and in the cloister gardens of Medieval monasteries.
