The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of translanguaging onthe learning of Spanish as a foreign language, as well as to identify thestrategies that promote translanguaging in the classroom and how studentsuse their language skills to learn Spanish. The use of translanguaging in theclassroom is becoming more common and leads to a better understanding ofother languages. The study involved 18 students and a substitute teacher,with both qualitative and quantitative methods used, including observations,surveys, and interviews. The results showed that there are four strategies thatencourage translanguaging in the classroom, and that English and Swedishare the languages mainly used by the students when using translanguaging.The interviews provided a more in-depth understanding of the students' responses to the questionnaire, particularly regarding how translanguagingaffects their learning of Spanish. / El objetivo de esta investigación fue investigar el impacto del translenguajeen el aprendizaje del español como lengua extranjera, así como identificar lasestrategias que promueven el translenguaje en el aula y cómo los estudiantesutilizan sus habilidades lingüísticas para aprender español. El uso deltranslenguaje en el aula se está volviendo más común y conduce a una mejorcomprensión de otros idiomas. El estudio involucró a 18 estudiantes y unaprofesora sustituta, utilizando métodos cualitativos y cuantitativos, queincluyeron observaciones, encuestas y entrevistas. Los resultados mostraronque existen cuatro estrategias que fomentan el translenguaje en el aula, y queel inglés y el sueco son los idiomas principalmente utilizados por losestudiantes al utilizar el translenguaje. Las entrevistas proporcionaron unacomprensión más profunda de las respuestas de los estudiantes alcuestionario, especialmente en lo que respecta a cómo el translenguaje afectasu aprendizaje del español.
