Some Contemporary American Views of Democracy and the Third World: A Critical Appraisal

It is the object of this dissertation to attempt a possible explanation of the American lack of success in the ideological battle for the peoples of the world. This is done by exploring the nature of the American ideology of democracy in relation to the characteristics necessary to make it a successful political weapon, by identifying and investigating the nature of the ideologies that oppose American democracy, and by exploring the background and expectations of the people who are being fought for - the peoples of the Third World. / Thesis / Master of Arts (MA)
