Por meio da etnografia, busca-se refletir sobre o cotidiano do uso partilhado do mate no ambiente doméstico e nas rodas de chimarrão em Canoinhas. O município faz parte de uma das regiões de Santa Catarina onde ainda há grande produção e beneficiamento da erva-mate, uma das matérias-primas para o preparo do chimarrão. As reflexões apontam para um olhar que ultrapasse a perspectiva do senso comum e de estudos sistemáticos que abordam as rodas e outros eventos que envolvem o tomar chimarrão como sendo espaços onde a centralidade é a "busca de amizade". Estes eventos, e particularmente as rodas, são lugares onde é possível perceber hierarquias, tensões e diferenciação. Além disso, podem ser espaçosmomentos para "atualizar-se" e trocar informações, onde muito mais é comunicado. A pesquisa nesta cidade aponta ainda para como cada um impõe um pouco de si ao tomar e ao fazer o chimarrão. / Study the meanings of the practices associated with drinking chimarrão is the objective of this work. Through ethnography, we try to reflect on the everyday life of the shared use of the mate at home and the wheels chimarrão in Canoinhas. The city is part of one of the regions of Santa Catarina where there is still great production and processing of yerba mate, a raw material for the preparation of chimarrão. These reflections point to a look that goes beyond the common sense perspective and systematic studies addressing the wheels and other events involving the drinking chimarrão as spaces where the centrality is the "pursuit of friendship". These events, particularly the wheels, are places where you can see hierarchies, tensions and differentiation. Moreover, they can be place-event to "update itself" and exchange information, where much more is communicated. The research also points to this city as each one requires a bit of himself to drink and to do chimarrão.
