Platsen för förskolan ligger i anslutning till en vacker, träbeklädd sluttning. Att inkludera denna i projektet kändes naturligt då en direktkontakt med naturen borde vara en självklarhet för alla förskolor med den möjligheten. Barnens lek i och med naturen ger dem, förutom känslan av frihet och upptäckarglädje även det känslomässiga band från tidig ålder som visats sig vara ett viktigt led i frågan om hur vi bevarar och vårdar vår jords begränsade resurser. Empati för miljön utvecklas inte på konstgjord väg och det är något vi behöver ta med i beräkningarna inför framtiden. Förskolan Trappan erbjuder barnet både trygghet och utmaningar. Trygghet byggd på rutin och logik då upprepningen i rörelse och återkomst av vardagliga moment hjälper barnet att bilda sig en uppfattning om och känsla av kontroll över sin egen tillvaro vilka är viktiga för barnets självkänsla. Detta ställningstagande visar sig bland annat i den rationella rumsuppdelingen där de privata utrymmena, som avdelningar, personalrum och kapprum alla ligger i fil till de allmäna rummen. Däribland den centrala trappan som bildar förskolans delade allrum - här möts alla, barn, personal och föräldrar. På så vis bildas två sektioner att röra sig emellan, den allmäna i söder och den privata i norr, vilket också får effekter på de ljusförhållanden, kvadratmeterytor och aktiviteter som rummen tilllfördelats. Utmaningarna finns för att stimulera till att hela tiden utvecklas i nya riktningar genom lek och inspirera till motoriska prövningar. Dessa återkommer både i trappan och sluttnignen som denna mynnar ut i. För att på ett tryggt men samtidigt också spännande sätt låta barnen ta del både av den tilldelade tomten och sluttningen nedanför tar sig byggnaden ner under Charlottenburgsvägen - på så sätt tar sig barnen obehindrat fram utan att möta trafiken på gatan. / The on the verge of the plot assigned for a kindergarten in Solna lies a beautiful slope covered in trees. To include this slope in the project felt like a natural choise since a daily contact with nature should be an obvious factor in every pre-school build were there is a possibility for access to it. The childs interaction with what nature has got to offer gives it not only experiences of freedom and the joy of discovering, but also that emotional bond with a natural environment that has shown to be important when it comes to sustainability and how to best care for the limited resources of our planet. Empaty for the environment does not develope artificially and that is something we need to keep in mind when designing for our future. The Stair kindergarten offers both security and challenge to the child. Security built on routine and logic since repetition in motion and recurrence of everyday activities helps the child establish an understanding for and thereby control of its own being which is important for its self-esteem. This stance is showing in for example the rational order of rooms where the private spaces i.e age-specific departements, staffrooms and cloakrooms all lies aligned next to the common rooms such as the central meeting place in form of a stair that works as shared playroom available to all children, staff and parents and connects all parts of the kindergarten. In this way two sections are formed to move between during the day, the common placed in south and the private in north, which also gives consequenses in light, room size and applied activities. Challenge is needed to stimulate constant developement through play and inspiring taking motorical action on obstacles. These challenges is reoccurring in both stair and the slope it connects to. To let the children access both the given plot and the slope in a safe way without having to cross the road between them, the buildning digs down under it - that makes for both a safe passage and an architecturally interesting element to the project.
