Alla har rätt till simundervisning, oavsett religion och kön : En intervjustudie om grundskollärares upplevelser och didaktiska strategier vid sim- och livräddningsundervisning.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how teachers relate to swimming and lifesaving teaching in school based on the opportunity for all students to participate, with a focus on girls with a Muslim background. The study used a qualitative semi-structured interview with predetermined questions. Six primary school teachers from Göta- and Svealand, five women and one man, participated in the study. The data was analyzed with a thematic content analysis, which resulted in seven different themes: Motivation, Participation, Didactic choices, Ethnic background, Communication, Issues and Pandemic's aftermath. The result showed that the teachers did not perceive it as problematic with Muslim girls' participation in the swimming and lifesaving education, as there are already several solutions, such as different types of clothing to swim in, which these students used. However, something that was noticed and became a growing problem was that all students feel more insecure about their own body and showing it off in front of others, regardless of gender or ethnic background.
