Status quo und strategische Entwicklung des Binnenhafens Bratislava

With the rising importance of combined transport as well as logistics, the subject of public inland ports is moving once again, after a long time of political default, in the center of discussions in Slovakia. The thesis focuses on answering the question, how the inland port of Bratislava should improve in order to stay competitive in light of the changed economic and political conditions and due to the future prospects of traf-fic development. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the fundamental terms and processes for general understanding of the following contents are explained. In the empirical part, which is based on the procedure of a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), the status quo of the inland port of Bratislava is at first raised. After the internal analysis, the changes and developments of the ex-ternal environment of the port are examined and, subsequently, a competitor analysis including analyses of the inland port Vienna as well as Györ-Gönyü is executed. Based on the former analyses, the strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats of the inland port of Bratislava are derived and finally, taking into account the results of the SWOT analysis, strategic actions for the development of the port of Bratislava are recommended.
