Agaricomycetes collected in several parts of the world have bioactives substances with anti-allergic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic, antiviral, antioxidant, cytotoxic, immunomodulatory, antiatherogenic, hepatoprotective, hypoglycemic, antibacterial e imunoprotective. Besides, these substances help the organism to prevent diabetes and to strength the immune system. However, few are the studies with material collected in Brazil. Thus, the current study aimed to improve the knowledge about the antibacterial potential of Agaricomycetes in the country by researching material collected in Northeast Brazil. For this, the inventory of the species deposited in Micoteca URM of UFPE was done and 32 cultures were found. To these, one culture to be deposited and 11 extracts from fresh basidiomata were added to the study. Ten cultures could not be reactivated. The 23 cultures were transferred to solid medium of malt extract. Extracts of the basidiomata and the cultures were obtained with ethyl acetate, ethanol e methanol, which were solubilized at a concentration (1:10 v/v). The preliminary tests with the 34 materials (23 cultures and 11 extracts of fresh basidiomata) were performed against 11 strains of Staphyllococcus aureus, seven of which resistant to oxacilin (ORSA), using block agar. Fifteen showed antibacterial activity, with inhibition between 9–24mm and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) from 0.18–147 μg/mL, among which Fomitopsis cupreorosea (URM 6830), Ganoderma multiplicatum (URM 6975), G. parvulum (URM 2948), Gandoerma sp. (extract of fresh basidiomata), Grammothele lineata (URM 6827), Rigidoporus lineatus (URM 6828), R. microporus (URM 6878), Stereum ostrea (URM 6973) and Stereum ostrea (extracs of fresh basidiomata) showed strong inhibition against all strains of S. aureus.
