Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva vilka copingstrategier kvinnan använder sig av när hon har bröstcancer. Metoden som användes för denna litteraturstudie var Goodmans modell med sju steg för ett systematiskt tillvägagångssätt. Litteratursökningen utfördes i databaserna PsycInfo, Cinahl, PubMed Cochrane, SveMed+ och Medline. Oberoende av varandra har 10 artiklar kvalitetsgranskats enligt Carlsson & Eimans (2003) bedömningsmall som modifierades till den population som undersöktes. Resultatet av tio inkluderade studier visade att det fanns ett flertal olika copingstrategier som kvinnor använder sig av när de har bröstcancer. De copingstrategierna som framkom ur dessa studier var: socialt stöd, planering, religion, positiv omvärdering och utveckling, undvikande, mental distansering, acceptans, aktiv coping, fokusera sig på och ventilation av känslor. Fler studier behövs för att undersöka vilka copingstrategier nordiska kvinnor använder sig av. / The aim with this literature study was to describe what coping strategies woman uses when she has breast cancer. The method used for this literature study was Goodman’s seven step model for a systematic approach. The literature search was conducted in the databases PsycInfo, Cinahl, PubMed Cochrane, SveMed+ and Medline. Independently of each other ten articles where quality reviewed accordingly to Carlsson & Eimans (2003) model of evaluation which where modified for the population studied. The result of the ten included studies shows that there were several different coping strategies women would use when they have breast cancer. The coping strategies that emerged out of these studies where: social support, planning, religion, positive re-evaluation and development, avoidance, mental distancing, acceptance, active coping, focusing on and ventilation of emotions. More studies are needed to examine what copingstrategier Nordic women use.
