El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la presencia de Brucella spp. en el ganado bovino de la provincia de Canta-Lima, mediante la detección de anticuerpos para Brucella spp. en sangre a través de la prueba de Rosa de Bengala y Fijación de Complemento como prueba confirmatoria. Con esta finalidad se obtuvieron 486 muestras de suero en toda la provincia. El 0.21% (1/486) con IC mínimo 0.09 y máximo 0.60% de los animales muestreados, resultó un animal positivo a Brucella spp. perteneciente al distrito de Santa Rosa de Quives. Los resultados obtenidos del presente estudio indican la presencia de Brucella spp. muy baja en la provincia de Canta, lo que nos permitirá implantar un programa de erradicación de brucelosis bovina en dicha provincia. / The objective of this study was to determine the presence of Brucella spp. in cattle in Canta Province, Lima Department. In order to get this goal, 486 serum samples from different animals were obtained in the entire province. Detection of antibodies in blood against Brucella spp was done using Rose Bengal Test. Additionally complement fixation test was used to confirm positive sera. Our results indicate that 0.21% (1/486), with a minimum IC 0.09 and a maximum 0.60%, of the sampled animals was positive to Brucella spp. The positive sample came from an animal in Santa Rosa de Quives City. The accomplished results in this study evidence that the presence of Brucella spp. in the Province of Canta is very low. This finding will allow us to implement a program of eradication for bovine brucellosis in this province.
