Previous issue date: 1997 / Resumo: O objetivo da dissertação é caracterizar a trajetória percorrida pelos núcleos e centros de pesquisa interdisciplinar da UNICAMP entre 1982 e 1994. Na sua primeira parte, abordam-se os antecedentes desta trajetória destacando-se o surgimento de estruturas interdisciplinares no processo de modernização do ensino superior brasileiro; o desenvolvimento da tendência à interdisciplinaridade na ciência dQ.pós-guerra; e o papel da personalidade de Zeferino Vaz, Reitor da UNICAMP entre 1966 e 1977. Na segunda parte, aborda-se o processo de criação dos núcleos ocorrida em maio de 1982. Esse processo é explicado à luz do contexto da crise institucional do começo dos anos 80; das mudanças políticas no pais, produto da transição do regime militar à democracia; e do trabalho de dois grupos de discussões, então existentes na UNICAMP: o Grupo de Política Científica e Tecnológica da Companhia de Desenvolvimento Tecnológico e o Grupo de Políticas Públicas do Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas. Na terceira parte, é analisada, de acordo com três fases, a trajetória dos núcleos e centros até 1994: experimentação, pré-institucionalização, e institucionalização e avaliação. Como conclusões, destacam-se os seguintes elementos: a) A trajetória percorrida pelas diferentes estruturas é heterogênea devido às diversas situações observadas - extinção, separação, transformação, fechamento e sucesso-; b) Sem desmerecer o esforço realizado e os resultados alcançados, a direção universitária parece não ter sido coerente com a questão central que motivou a criação dos núcleos, a qual aparece na portaria GR 25, de 27 de maio de 1982 -"que a prática multidisciplinar de estudos e pesquisas pode constituir-se em instrumento para a redefinição teórica e prática do papel da Universidade e sua verdadeira configuração"-; c) Continua vigente a necessidade de transformar a UNICAMP numa Universidade Interdisciplinar, de maneira que possa cumprir muito melhor seus compromissos com a sociedade / Abstract: The objetive ofthe dissertation is to eharaeterize the trajectory ofthe UNICAMP interdisciplinary research centers and nuclei beteween 1982 and 1994. In the first part, the antecedentes of this trajetory are taken up, underlining the interdisciplinary structures in the Brazilian higher edueation modernization process; the development of the scientifie interdisciplinarity tendency afterthe Second World War; and the personality role ofZeferino Vaz, UNICAMP rector since 1966 to 1977. In the second part, the process of the creation of the nuelei in may 1982 is presented. This process is explained by the institutional crisis context, at the start of the decade of the 80's, by the politieal ehanges in the country, as consequence of the transition from the military to the democratie regimes, and the aetivities of the UNICAMP discussion groups existing at that time: the Seience and Technology Poliey Group whieh belonged to the Tecnology Development Company and the group studing Publie Policy in the Institute ofPhilosophy and Humans Seiences. In the third part, the three phases oftrajetory ofnuelei and centers, until 1994, are analysed: experimentation, pre-institutionalization, and institutionalization and evaluation. In the conelusions the following elements are highlighted: a) The trajetory of the diferent struetures was heterogenous due to diverse situations observed -extintion, separation, transformation, elosure and success; b) Without demeriting the efforts made and the results obtained, the higbet management university levels seemed not to be coherent with the main objetive that inspired the ereation of the nuclei: "the multidisciplinary praetice of studies and research ean serve as an instrument for theoretieal and praetieal redefinition ofthe University role and its true configuration" -whieh appeared in the governnental decree GR 25 of may 27 th , 1982; e) It is still necessary the transformation ofUNICAMP into an interdiscpilinary institution, in order to better accomplish its compromises with society / Mestrado / Mestre em Política Científica e Tecnológica
