Previous issue date: 1995 / Resumo: O presente trabalho teve por finalidade verificar as alterações das medidas cefalométricas ocorridas com a mudança de posição da cabeça do paciente em relação ao Plano de Frankfurt.
Trinta pacientes adultos, leucodermas foram submetidos à tomadas radiográficas póstero-anteriores, nas quais realizou-se a análise cefalométrica computadorizada pelo padrão Ricketts. As médias amostrais das medidas obtidas, foram submetidas ao Teste de Tukey e comparadas 2 a 2. Os resultados não apontaram diferenças significantes para as medidas: Largura Transversal Nasal, Largura Transversal Facial, Simetria Esquelética, Relação Intermolar e Intercanino Inferiores, Relação Molar Superior e Inferior Direito e Esquerdo e Relação Transverso Maxilo-Mandibular Esquerda. Contudo as diferenças apresent_ram-se significantes para as seguintes medidas: Dimensão Vertical Nasal, Largura Transversal Mandibular, Largura Transversal Maxilar, Relação Molar Inferior Direito e 'Esquerdo com a Mandíbula, Distância Ófrion-Mento e Relação Transverso Maxilo-Mandibular Direta. Conclui-se que pequenas alterações no posicionamento da cabeça do paciente podem conduzir a resultados cefalométricos errôneos, e consequentemente, levar a diagnóstico e plano de tratamento inadequados. Conclui-se também que em função dessas inclinações da cabeça, ocorrem diferenças entre os tipos faciais, determinados pelo índice Facial Morfológico / Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to verify the alterations of the cephalometric mmeasurements that occur when the position of the patient's head is shifted in r relation to the Frankfurt plane.
Thirtyadult, leucodermic patients quere submitted to posterior-anterior radiographs, in which the computerized cephalometric analysis was carried out following Ricketts standard. The Tukey test was employed to test sample means of the measurements obtained and the means were compared two by two. The results did not show signifiC?ant differences for the following measurements: Nasal Transversal Width, Facial Transversal Width, Skeleton Simetry, Inferior Intermolar and Canine Relation, Superior and Inferior Right and Left Molar Relation and Left Maxilo-Mandibular Transverse Relation. However, the differences were significant for the following measurements: Nasal Vertical Dimension, Mandibular Transversal Width, Maxilla Transversal Width, Inferior Right and Left Molar Relation with the jaw, Ofrion-Mento Distance and Rigth Maxillo-Mandibular Transverse Relation. One concludes that small alterations in the position of the patient's head can convey erroneous cephalometric results and consequently lead to inadequade diagnostics and treatment plans.
