Arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av att främja delaktighet i utförande av aktiviteter hos barn och ungdomar med autism

The aim of the study was to examine occupational therapists experience by promoting participation in performance in activity in children and adolescents with autism. Eleven occupational therapists with experience in working with children and adolescents habilitation were interviewed. In this qualitative study content analysis method were selected to analyze the data that emerged from the interviews. Analysis of the data resulted in four categories: "Promoting participation in performance of activity through technological interventions, to promote child / youth participation in performance of activity through interaction with others, to promote participation in performance of activity through strategies and to design interventions that are based on the person." The results show that occupational therapists used individualized interventions that also were directed towards the relatives and other people in person's presence. It was revealed by the results that participation in occupational performance in children and adolescents with autism could be achieved partly through i) to understand the meaning of and ii) have a say in choosing activity. / <p>Validerat; 20130604 (global_studentproject_submitter)</p>
