Previous issue date: 2016-01-18 / This research aimed to analyze the influence of cooperation networks on the development of sustainability initiatives. A set of preliminary characteristics of the cooperation networks and factors to adopt sustainability emerged from the literature review. The methodology employed was multiple cases study of cooperation networks in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and the three economic sectors were studied: service, trading and industry, giving an amount of nine cooperation networks. Nine cooperation networks were studied and twenty seven people were interviewed. The results indicate thirteen factors that influence the adoption of sustainability initiatives in cooperation networks: competitive advantage, exchange of experience, ecological awareness, stakeholders? influence, organizational reputation, legislation, involvement of the board of directors, cooperation network's size, cooperation networks? life time, independent sustainability team, trust, collective competence and government?s incentive. The factors competitive advantage and independent sustainability team were originated from the fusion of a characteristic and a factor. Furthermore, three exclusive characteristics of cooperation networks are now considered factors that influence the adoption of sustainability initiatives: exchange of experience, trust and collective competence. / A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar a influ?ncia das redes de coopera??o no
desenvolvimento de iniciativas de sustentabilidade. O referencial te?rico permitiu o
aprofundamento sobre as tem?ticas relacionadas ? Responsabilidade Social Corporativa e
Redes de Coopera??o, a partir do qual emergiu um conjunto inicial de caracter?sticas das
redes e de fatores para a ado??o de sustentabilidade. A metodologia empregada foi a
realiza??o de estudos de casos m?ltiplos de redes de coopera??o do estado do Rio Grande do
Sul, dos tr?s setores econ?micos: presta??o de servi?os, com?rcio e ind?stria, totalizando nove
redes. Nove redes de coopera??o fizeram parte do estudo totalizando 27 respondentes. Os
resultados apontam treze fatores que influenciam a ado??o de iniciativas de sustentabilidade
em redes de coopera??o: vantagem competitiva, troca de experi?ncias, consci?ncia ecol?gica,
influ?ncia dos stakeholders, reputa??o organizacional, legisla??o, envolvimento da diretoria,
tamanho da rede, tempo de exist?ncia da rede, equipe de sustentabilidade aut?noma,
confian?a, compet?ncia coletiva e incentivo governamental. Os fatores vantagem competitiva
e equipe de sustentabilidade aut?noma originaram-se da fus?o de uma caracter?stica e um
fator. Al?m disso, tr?s caracter?sticas exclusivas de redes de coopera??o passam a ser
consideradas como fatores que influenciam na ado??o de iniciativas de sustentabilidade: troca
de experi?ncias, confian?a e compet?ncia coletiva.
