Bakgrund: Diabetes typ 1 är en kronisk diagnos som årligen drabbar cirka 900 barn i Sverige. Antalet barn som insjuknar årligen ökar. Tidigare forskning visar att föräldrar upplever barnets insjuknande som en förlust av deras tidigare friska barn. Familjer påverkas i olika grad av diagnosen där tidigare kunskap om diabetes har betydelse för deras förmåga att hantera den nya livssituationen de ställs inför. Sjuksköterskans bemötande gentemot föräldrarna vid diagnosbeskedet är av vikt för såväl förmågan att ta in informationen som tilldelas men även deras fortsatta upplevelser med diagnosen som en central del av livet. Det är av vikt att både barnet och familjen får del av sjuksköterskans omvårdnad. Fokus i arbetet ligger på föräldrar upplevelser. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturstudien var att kartlägga föräldrars upplevelser när deras barn debuterar med diabetes typ 1. Metod: Litteraturstudie baserad på tio kvalitativa vetenskapliga studier. Databaserna PubMed och Cinahl användes till databassökningarna. De utvalda studierna kvalitetsgranskades och analyserades enligt en innehållsanalys. Resultat: Fyra kategorier presenteras i resultatet; Diagnosbeskedet, tiden efter diagnosbeskedet, påverkan på familjeförhållande och nätverk och socialt stöd. Konklusion: Föräldrar till barn med diabetes typ 1 känner maktlöshet, oro, förlust, ångest och skuldkänslor vid tiden för diagnos. Sjuksköterskan kan genom information och stöd hjälpa minska föräldrarnas oro, maktlöshet, ångest och skuldkänslor och därmed känna ökad trygghet. Det är av vikt att föräldrarna får tillgång till information och stöd i vardagen för att hantera och acceptera livssituationen. / Background: Diabetes type 1 is a chronic disease that affects around 900 children every year in Sweden and this number increases every year. Previous studies show that parents of the diagnosed children view the diagnosis as a loss compared to when the child was healthy and undiagnosed. Families of the sick children are affected quite variously depending on their previous knowledge on the disease. Research has shown that families with higher knowledge and experience on the disease has an easier time adapting to the new changes in their life whilst the families with lesser knowledge and experience find it rather hard and the adapt slower. The introduction that is given by the nurse has a great importance to the intake of the given information as wells as their continued experiences with the disease which is a central part of their lives. The nurse´s caretaking is of heavy role in the matter. The focus of the study lies on the parents. Aim: The aim of the study is to describe the parents experiences of the when their child receive the diagnosis of diabetes type 1. Method: The study is based on a overview from ten qualitative studies. PubMed and Cinahl were used to the database searchers that were performed. The selected studies were quality checked and analyzed according to a content analysis. Results: Four categories presented in the results; Diagnosis clearance, time after the diagnosis clearance, the impact on family relationships and networks and social support. Conclusion: Parents of the child with diabetes type 1 feel powerless, stress, loss, anxiety and guilt at time of the diagnosis. The nurse can through information and support help lower parents guilt, stress, powerless and anxiety and thus increased insurance. It is of importance that the parents have access to information and support on a daily basis so that they can handle and accept this new way of live.
