Abstract The aim of this study was to find whether teachers at intermediate level work with enforcing students’ trust in their own ability. The study is based on the Swedish curriculum Lgr22 and the theoretical model ‘the didactic triangle’. The research questions were built based on the triangle and the curriculum. The method used is a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews. Eight well-experienced teachers participated from three F-6 schools in the middle of Sweden. The data were transcribed and then analysed according to a qualitative thematic method. The results show that the teacher student relationship is very important and the starting point for strengthening the students’ trust in their own abilities. Other important factors that have an impact in the student’s confidence are: to adjust the teaching and the content; to give feedback and response; affirmation and to give students further motivation to practise their skills and abilities. In the discussion, the conclusion is conveyed in the form of four practical tips based on the results of the study. Hopefully, this study will help future teachers in their profession. / Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur lärare på mellanstadiet arbetar med att stärkaelevers tillit till den egna förmågan. Studien grundar sig i Lgr22 och den teoretiska modellsom studien lutar sig mot är den didaktiska triangeln. Det var utefter det styrdokumentet ochden modellen studiens frågeställningar byggdes. Undersökningen är kvalitativ och metodensom användes för att få svar var semistrukturerade intervjuer. I studien deltog åtta erfarnamellanstadielärare från tre F-6 skolor i mellansverige. Datainsamlingen transkriberades ochanalyserades genom en kvalitativ tematisk metod. Resultatet visar att relationen till eleven ärväldigt viktig och en utgångspunkt för att lyckas med att stärka elevens tillit till den egnaförmågan. Att anpassa undervisning och innehåll, att återkoppla, ge respons och bekräfta,samt att motivera eleven att öva och träna, visade sig också som mycket viktiga faktorer föratt lyckas med uppdraget. I diskussionen förmedlas slutsatsen i form av fyra praktiska tipsutifrån studiens resultat. Förhoppningsvis kan på det viset studien användas av framtidalärare.
