At finishing cutting the cutter loading is small, so for the surface roughness demand is high grade then the cutter performance. But the ball end mill is a arc cutter so that generate "scallop high" on tool path interval and feed direction generate "feed direction cutting remainder" because the ball end mill rotate and moving. it is main factor become surface roughness.
The "feed direction cutting remainder" is more complex then the "scallop high" at generate cause. And difficult to get the remainder high use geometrical analysis. This thesis we use "Z - map" method to simulation the cutting remainder at difference cutting condition. Use the "least square" to regress the "cutting remainder mathematics model" and use the model to decision feedrate at finishing cutting of difference cuitting condition. We can get a work of smooth surface and efficiency.l
The "static point" of ball end mill where cutting speed is very slowly. Almost haven''t cutting effect and tool wear easily. So it is necessary to modify the cutter shape of the ball end mill. There are "v - cut " and "fillet v - cut", that apply two difference kind ball end mill and each has advantage and defect. This thesis bring up another modify cutter shape to improve the defect of "v - cut", and to increase finishing of work piece and reduce tool wear.
