We live and we die…that much holds true. What we do in between becomes our TRACES…

My thesis exhibition is comprised of acrylic paintings, silkscreen prints, charcoal drawings and a relief panel piece all relating to the lives of twelve residents of an independent living housing facility in Lethbridge, AB. Through interviews with the residents, I obtained images of their past and present which are reflected in this body of work and portrayed as TRACES of their lives.

The work is very flat, hard edged, and colorful. I created a system whereby I took an image and broke it down into simple shapes. From this I then produced a painting using many layers of acrylic paint, meticulously executed resulting in a steady hard line as the colors meet. To express my work I utilized canvas, mdf board and paper. Silkscreens also form part of the display, but the breaking down of the image is consistent throughout.
