Thesis (MTech.degree in Drama) / The aim of this study was to direct drama script of MARAT/SADE by Peter Weiss for the stage. The presentation of drama scripts includes a complicated process of preparation - a study of literature, investigation and experimentation with directing methods and play-production techniques. The life and work of Peter Weiss, is investigated, as well as the production techniques of Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht and Peter Brook. This study forms part and compliments the practical component which was a stage production of MARAT/SADE on 10 to 13 May 2000 at the Rostrum theatre, Technikon Pretoria.
