This thesis is dedicated to education in Mexico and its impact on the economic development of the country. The thesis outlines the current problems of Mexican education, its structure, key institutions, latest reforms and programs that should improve its current situation, the socioeconomic and cultural aspects of the education in the country and the intensity of the link between the university and company sphere. It also indicates the available data about the Mexican education and economy. It describes the situation in the labor market in Mexico and tries to find the connection between the educational level, the labor productivity and the economic development of the country. It carries out an investigation into the subjective opinions of the Mexicans regarding education in the country. Additionally, it describes personal observations of the situation of the education in Mexico. It compares official available data about the education in reference to the opinions of the Mexicans. Finally, it outlines possible proposals for the improvement of the selected aspects of the education in Mexico.
