The theoretical part of the work, focusing on the importance of education for society, human resources and human capital, defines the basic concepts and establishes a theoretical frame work. The analytical part is to assess investments in education at various levels of study and funding for research and development in the Czech Republic and the subsequent comparison with selected countries of the OECD and EU28. The conclusion of the thesis, containing a summary and evaluation of the previous parts of the work, the apparent decrease incurred expenditure on education relative to GDP, when the Czech Republic is below the OECD average. This trend may be due to low interest government about this resort. Research and development brings new knowledge and technologies needed to increase the productivity of individual states. Czech Republic attaches to investment in research and development due to GBARD share of total public expenditure in the long term greater significance than the average for the EU28.
