The aim of this study was to create a bigger understanding for what it means when a profession change and how the workers perceive the changes themselves. All the empirical underpinning of work results and analysis parts has been obtained through interviews of social workers that are working with economical aid in various municipalities across Sweden. Creating a greater understanding of how they themselves have felt that their role and their work environment has changed compared from what it used to be earlier in their careers. This study was based on the two following questions:• Do social workers in social assistance experience that a change in their work has ocurred, if they have how would they describe the changes?• Does the interviewed experience an uncertainty in their field, and if they do what are the consequences of this this uncertainty? The study primarily shows that there has been a big change in economic assistance and that the people involved have both similar and completely unique experiences about what this change has meant for their work. According to the interviewed there exists a restlessness in their field, however the concern appears to affect different groups differently depending on how experienced the person in question is. Those with more experience seems to be most concerned about how their group is perceived, and what needs to be done in the future. While the more inexperienced group seems most concerned about the lack of resources and inadequate support.
