Thesis (M. Eng. in Logistics)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Engineering Systems Division, 2004. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 49-52). / When trying to envision what the future might look like, different methods of forecasting are often used. However, there is a growing consensus that discontinuity and abrupt change are inherent to the very nature of the future and should be incorporated into futurist studies.
