Sewage sludge is the by-product generated in the Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and Liliu shells are solid by-products generated in fishing this mollusk in Lagoon Guara?ras, RN. Given the importance of waste management to maintain the quality of the environment, there is the possibility of using these materials as a component in the raw material mortar. The objective of this study was to analyze the technical feasibility of incorporating powdered waste (sewage sludge and Liliu shells) mortar. It was used predominantly domestic sludge from the STP Baldo ? Natal, RN and Liliu of shells from the municipalities of Ar?s, RN and Senador Georgino Avelino, RN. In the first step the residues were ground and characterized by physical, chemical, mineralogical and morphological analysis. In the second step these residues were applied to the different mortars and compared to the cement mortar, lime and sand (1:1:7) and the cement mortar and sand (1:7) and were then evaluated and compared in the fresh state (consistency, entrained air content, mass density and water retention), and in the hardened state (compressive strength, tensile strength in bending, capillarity, mass density, tensile bond strength). Given the reviews, it was found that the experiment with sewage sludge, in the proportions used and without the removal of organic matter, has not achieved satisfactory results, because this material dramatically reduce strength and react with the other components of the mortar, releasing a very strong and unpleasant odor, making the manufacture of mortar one inadvisable activity. In another sense, it was found that there are technical and practical feasibility of using the powder of the shells, due to this material increase strength and improve other properties of the mortar.
