The diploma thesis analyses the world coffee market, introducing the largest importers, exporters and producers of this commodity. The thesis also examines, for example, selected countries own consumption and touches upon coffee consumption in the Czech Republic just for illustration. The thesis also includes a brief description of some major world organisations that are closely associated with coffee. The thesis offers a detailed analysis of the 2001-2004 crisis and its impacts on developing countries, whose economies depend on coffee trade, and on the global coffee market. The last section of the diploma thesis analyses three of the producing countries that hold a major position in the coffee market; this includes the basic information about these countries and their economies, cultivated areas and climate conditions. The section is concluded by an evaluation of their production and the shares of their own consumption and exports.
