The social work practice carried out by the unit is based on universal prevention, which includes providing parent programmes. The aim in this study is to describe and evaluate the EFFA-Väster parent programme, which has been compiled by social workers working at the unit, with regard to the content, effects and implementation of the program. The study is based on a non-experimental inquiry of an experimental group which has been subjected to a pre- and post test. Further, observations has been made of every program session to examine whether the program is implemented in accordance with the intention and how the program is received by the participants. Finally, a detailed review of the programme manual has been made based on former research on the parent programme field. The outcome of this study indicates that the EFFA-Väster parent programme contains relevant components in comparison to prior research. However, the programme lacks practical moment such as role-play and modelling, which, in this study, has been shown as a shortage. The outcome of the inquiry indicates that the programme is not associated with any significant effects on the participants. Yet, the parents reported, after finishing the programme, that they felt strengthened in their parent-ship. They even reported a satisfaction with the programme as a whole. In the end, the observation outcome shows that the implementation has been carried out as intended, among others through a high fidelity in relation to the programme manual.

Keywords: EFFA-Västers parent programme, parent programme, evaluation, behavioral parent programmes, implementation
