This study of Swedish history books for grade 9 will examine and compare what the books say about The Holocaust and how it is presented. I analyse how the books present The Holocaust and how it is portrayed. I use questions to evaluate the content of the texts and thereafter I compare them to each other. My hypothesis is that history books are affected by the society in which they are written. Therefore I think that comparing books from different years, I will be able to see a difference between the books when it comes to the way they choose to present The Holocaust. In my study I discover that there are differences between the books and that many times the books that are more recently written presents The Holocaust in a more balanced way. But I also discover that to come to any further conclusions about if more recently written textbooks are better than older because of these differences, a much more extensive study is needed.
